TRACK project closed successfully (10-11-2011)

On October 27th, Televic presented the results of the TRACK project, a research cooperation between Televic Rail and several partners (IBBT, Bombardier, Newtec, Nokia Siemens Networks, several universities) on wireless communication networks in a railway environment.

The TRACK project focused on a broad spectrum of railway communications such as train control and diagnostics, real-time passenger information and entertainment, security services (CCTV surveillance), etc. The project involved research on three work packages:

• network optimizations assuring seamless and uninterrupted connectivity between wayside and train
• the development of a software platform dealing with issues related to deploying train applications (video coding, audio monitoring, application configuration and version management)
• the economic viability of network solutions for all involved actors

The results of this two-year study project were presented during a closing event at the Televic headquarters.
